Philander Smith College is a private, historically black college located in Little Rock, Arkansas. Founded in 1877, the college is affiliated with the United Methodist Church, and was formerly known as Walden Seminary after Dr. J.M. Walden. The school’s name was changed to Philander Smith College in 1882.
