Platt College is a private graphic arts school located in San Diego, California. Founded in 1985, Platt College San Diego actually traces its beginnings to the first Platt College founded in 1879 in St. Joseph, Missouri. The San Diego campus opened in 1980 and offered drafting programs. However, in 1985, the San Diego campus severed its ties with the Missouri school and expanded its curriculum by adding Production Art, Graphic Design, Computer Graphic Design, Multimedia and Specialized Multimedia Diploma programs.
Since the time of its establishment in 1985 to the present, the goal of the college has always been “to develop the natural talents of each and every one of its students and build these talents into career-oriented strengths that they can use in the modern workplace.”
Today, Platt College San Diego offers a wide range of degrees from Associate’s to Bachelor of Science for the Media Arts with specialized studies in 3D Animation, Digital Video Production, Graphic Design and Web Design. Total cost of these programs regardless of the chosen specialization is US$69,720 broken down into Bachelor of Science tuition of US$34,000, registration fee of US$110, books and supplies at US$2,200 and an Associate of Applied Science in Graphic Design degree at a cost of US$33,410.
To help students pay for the cost of their degree programs, financial aid is extended in the form of loans, grants, and scholarships.
