Newman University is a coeducational Catholic liberal arts institution and a sponsored ministry of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, US Region. It was named after John Henry Cardinal Newman in 1973 when it became the Kansas Newman College and eventually the Newman University in 1998. However, it traces its origins to the Sacred Heart Junior College established in 1933 which became the Sacred Heart College in 1952.
