Pittsburg State University, also known as Pitt State or PSU, is a public university located in Pittsburg, Kansas. Founded in 1903 as the Auxiliary Manual Training Normal School, it was renamed Kansas State Teachers College of Pittsburg and became a four-year college in 1913. In 1959, the school became known as the Kansas State College of Pittsburg and, in 1977, was officially named Pittsburg State University.
Currently, there are over 7,100 students enrolled in the state university, ably guided by fulltime faculty members. With an 18 to1 student to faculty ratio, students of Pitt State are able to enjoy a focused, one-on-one interaction with their teachers.
The university grants Bachelor’s degrees, Master’s degrees, Education Specialist degrees, Associate degrees and professional certificates in more than 100 majors and academic programs. The university is divided into four colleges; namely, the College of Arts & Sciences, the College of Business, the College of Education and the College of Technology.
Cost of tuition for fulltime, undergraduate students who are residents of Kansas is US$2,296 and US$165 per credit hour for part-time students. For non-resident fulltime, undergraduate students, the cost is US$6,558 and for part-time students, US$449. Graduate students who are Kansas residents and who are enrolled in seven hours or more of class credit pay tuition of US$2,576. Non-residents are charged US$6,235. Part-time graduate tuition is US$219 per credit hour for residents and US$523 per credit hour for non-residents. For the continuing studies program, the cost per credit hour for undergraduate students is US$165 and, for graduate students, US$219. In addition, there is a distance fee of US$18 which applies to classes held at an extended distance from the campus.
