Nicholls State University is an institution of higher learning accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate, baccalaureate, master’s and specialist degrees. Specific programs have additional accreditation from corresponding agencies. It is located at 906 East 1st Street Thibodaux, Louisiana.
The academic colleges and programs of the university are comprised of the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business Administration, College of Education, College of Nursing and Allied Health, John Folse Culinary Institute, University College, and Graduate Studies. The University of Louisiana System has identified certain areas of study offered by Nicholls State University as deserving of special honor due to their uniqueness or leadership in Louisiana education. These include programs in Child/Family and Social Services, Accounting and Information Systems, Teacher Education, Allied Health Sciences, Nursing, Biological Sciences and its Culinary Institute. The university campus also plays host to several unique centers such as the Louisiana Center for Women and Government, Louisiana Center for Dyslexia and Related Learning Disorders, the Small Business Development Center and the Center for Traditional Louisiana Boat Building.
The University College serves as the entry point for all students of Nicholls State University. It coordinates academic advising for all first-time freshmen regardless of the intended major. Online courses are offered through the university’s Office of Electronic Learning. The same admission policies and procedures apply to those interested in taking online courses only.
Semester fees for an undergraduate 12 to18 credit load amount to $ 2,084.35 for in-state students or $ 5,318.35 for out-of-state students. Graduate fees for the same load amount to $ 2,462.35 for in-state students or $ 5,696.35 for out-of-state students. An average room and meal plan costs about $ 3,525.00 for an academic year.
