Having celebrated its Bicentennial in 2008, Mount Saint Mary’s University is the second oldest Catholic University in the US. It occupies a 1,400 acre campus at 16300 Old Emmitsburg Road, Emmitsburg, Maryland. The history of the institution began when the State of Maryland was created as a religious freedom refuge.
Total present enrollment is 2,186 including 1,650 undergraduate and 490 graduate students. At least 30 states and 13 foreign countries are represented in the student body. There are 107 full-time and 67 part-time faculty members handling the various classes. The average class size is 20 while student/faculty ratio is 13:1.
More than 40 majors, minors, concentrations and special programs make up its academic offering. The university’s core curriculum program provides broad exposure to knowledge in the humanities and sciences. Study abroad programs include countries such as England, Italy, France, Costa Rica, Ireland, Spain and Prague, among others. Student support services are provided through the Writing Center, Learning Services, Math Lab, Foreign Language Labs, Multi-Media Lab and Faculty Advising.
Estimated total annual cost for a residential student amounts to $ 40,658.00. This amount includes tuition for up to 16 hours maximum each semester, basic board, room and fees. About 1,000 students availing of on-campus housing facilities have chosen traditional residence options such as rooms in doubles, triples and quads. Special housing facilities are available such as the LOFT Housing which creates a community committed to healthy living and the Women in Science Floor which is open to females having a strong interest in science and technology fields.
Accelerated and weekend undergraduate programs cost $ 385.00 per credit hour while MBA programs charge a tuition of $ 460.00 per credit hour. Graduate Education Programs cost $ 377.00 per credit hour.
