Midland Lutheran College is a liberal arts college affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Founded in 1883 and originally established in Atchison, Kansas. The college then known as Midland College moved to Fremont, Nebraska in 1919. It occupied a property previously used by the Fremont Normal School and Business College. It changed its name to Midland Lutheran College in 1962 when it merged with the Little Junior College of Wahoo, Nebraska. It is presently located at 900 North Clarkson, Fremont, Nebraska.
More than 50 majors and pre-professional programs are offered in the fields of humanities, physical and life sciences, social and behavioral sciences and programs of study for specific vocations and graduate study. Students can either pursue a bachelor’s or master’s degree or a certificate course.
Basic educational expenses include tuition of $ 330.00 per credit, tech fee of $ 10.00 per credit and online course fee of $ 150.00 per course (when applicable). Estimated annual cost of books is $ 800.00. Estimated annual academic cost is about $ 28,596.00. A variety of residence halls provide for the students’ housing needs.
Occupying a little over 40 acres of property, approximately 25 acres are included in the Heritage Arboretum. Access to the Arboretum can be made from almost anywhere along the streets surrounding the campus. The campus is flat with no noticeable grade changes. Visitor parking is available in the nearby surface lot.
There are 60 full-time and 54 part-time faculty members. Student/faculty ratio is 12:1. Midland professors perform varied roles as teachers, experts, friends, and mentors to help students broaden their perspectives to prepare them for successful lives and careers. The college also promotes service learning which links meaningful community service with academic learning. More than 40 campus organizations can work to enhance a student’s college experience depending on personal interests.
