New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is the State of New Jersey’s public, technological university. It was founded in 1881 and has since operated under its combined mission of education, research, economic development and public service. It occupies a 45-hectare campus in one of the nation’s technology nerve centers in Newark, New Jersey specifically in 154 Summit Street.
The New Jersey Institute of Technology campus houses 26 buildings for academic, residential and recreational use. Some of the more notable ones include the recently added Campus Center and the newly-renovated Eberhardt Hall-NJIT Alumni Center. Also found in the campus are the Van Houten Library and the Barbara and Leonard Littman Library for Architecture and 20 state-of-the-art multidisciplinary centers.
New Jersey Institute of Technology’s academic offerings consist of programs leading to bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. These programs are offered through its colleges and schools including the Newark College of Engineering, New Jersey School of Architecture, College of Computing Sciences, College of Science and Liberal Arts, School of Management and the Albert Dorman Honors College. Special academic opportunities are provided by NJIT’s other programs for Continuing Professional Education and internships and the Equal Opportunity Program. Online programs are also offered at a tuition cost of $ 863.00 per credit.
The student body is composed of 5,924 undergraduate and 2,916 graduate students. The faculty has 416 full-time and 88 adjunct members. Student faculty ratio is 13:1.
Estimated full-time undergraduate cost amounts to $ 10,816.00 for New Jersey residents or $ 20,560.00 for non-residents. Full-time graduate studies cost $ 14,200.00 for New Jersey residents or $ 20,168.00 for non-residents. Cost of undergraduate tuition and fees per credit is $ 614.00 for residents or $ 1,081.00 for non-residents while graduate tuition and fees per credit amount to $ 972.00 or $ 1,264.00 for residents and non-residents, respectively. All full-time students are assessed a $ 278.00 Health Insurance Fee.
