Founded as the South Texas Bible Institute in Houston, Texas in 1953, the Mid-America Christian University (MACU) is now a thriving university which offers its programs based on core Christian values. It moved to its current location in 1985 and became known as the Mid-America Bible College. It adapted its present name in 2003 to reflect its expanding educational mission. It is located at 3500 SW 119th Street, Oklahoma City.
The university’s location places its students in close proximity to numerous venues of national sporting events, festivals, museums as well as arts and entertainment establishments. Being located less than half a mile from I-44, quick access to all parts of the town is possible from the campus. Outdoor activities likewise abound due to the generally warm climate of the city.
Mid-America Christian University’s undergraduate programs consist of Associate in Arts and Ethics, Behavioral Science, Christian Ministry, Health Care Administration, Management Information Systems, Management and Ethics, Public Administration and Ethics and Public Administration Criminal Justice. Graduate programs, on the other hand, include Master of Arts in Leadership, MA in Leadership Public Administration, Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Counseling. Accelerated programs are offered both on-campus and online.
The various programs of Mid-America Christian University are provided through its seven schools: School of Behavioral Science, School of Business, School of English, School of General Education, School of Teacher Education, School of Ministry and School of Music. Educational cost for an academic year is estimated at $19,780.00 to include tuition, fees, room and board. Tuition per credit hour costs $ 545.00
There are about 1,180 students enrolled at MACU, at least 212 of whom are ministry students. On-campus housing facilities are provided through six dormitory buildings with each dormitory having a living area and four bedrooms. All rooms are equipped with high-speed Internet and cable television.
