Walden University was founded in 1970 as an experiment, originally proposed in a paper by Harold Hodgkinson, to provide working adults an opportunity to complete their higher degrees while also working toward positive social change. Eventually moving from Florida to Minnesota, Walden was accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and grew into a unique and acclaimed online university.
The ACBSP-accredited School of Management offers an online MBA program designed for working professionals who wish to increase their management skills and use their success to make the world a better place. Students may choose specializations in Accounting, Finance, Entrepreneurship, Healthcare Management, Human Resource Management, International Business, Leadership, Marketing, Project Management, Risk Management, Technology Management and Sustainability, or may create their own specializations. Students are given the option to study global business abroad or arrange for field study opportunities nearby or at their own company.

Tuition costs $29,930 for the full 36-credit hour program, including the cost of textbooks; no residency is required. Students may apply for federal grants and loans, and Walden offers a number of scholarships for qualified master’s students, many related to community activity and social improvement. Military veterans may also receive tuition benefits, including discounts and credit transfers for experience.
