California Coast University (CCU) , founded in 1973, is a distance learning institution that offers correspondence and online programs. Students at CCU never have to go to the university itself, with the exception of Doctoral candidates, who have to make an appearance for the oral defense. Programs are also self-paced, which means that there are no set exam or meeting dates. Reviews from students are mixed but it generally has good reviews for its business programs.
CCU offers online associates and bachelor’s degree programs in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Business Marketing, Management, Psychology, and Criminal Justice. It also offers online Master’s degree programs in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Business Marketing, Management, Psychology, and Education (Curriculum and Instruction and Administration). Doctoral degrees in Education Administration, Organizational Leadership, and Educational Psychology are also available as online programs.
Admissions are accepted at CCU year round and students can start their studies anytime of the year. Applications at CCU can be submitted online. Online applications incur a $75 application fee.
Textbooks are not included in CCU’s tuition fees. Students can use their own textbooks or can rent them at CCU’s Rental Library. Financial aid is available at CCU for active military members through DANTES (Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Educational Support). CCU also offers interest free payment plans that allow students to make monthly payments for as low as $100 per month.
CCU is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), a member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
