Western Career College (WCC), founded in 1967, is a multi-campus college whose educational philosophy centers on outcome-based learning. This is achieved through a skill-based education, preparing students for the specific careers they wish to pursue. WCC is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. It recently changed its name to Carrington College California.
WCC offers online undergraduate degree programs through its online campus, WCC Online. Currently the online programs available at the online campus include Associate degree programs in Accounting, Business, Criminal Justice, General Studies, Graphic Design, Health Care Administration, Health Information Technology, and Sales and Marketing. Note that while WCC Online offers the same quality curriculum as WCC’s on-campus programs, the method of delivery makes it different in that the coursework follows a linear approach to better suit the needs of online students.
Admissions requirements for applicants to WCC online vary per program. However, all applicants must be at least 17 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED certificate, and meet at least one of the following admissions criteria: SAT scores of 460 (math and critical reading) or ACT score of 16, 6 semester units of college or university coursework, minimum high shool GPA of 2.5, and completion of WCC’s one-week orientation course.
Tuition at WCC is $390 per credit hour. Students on active military duty (not applicable to spouses) get a discounted rate of $250 per credit hour. Tuition rates already include tuition, electronic course materials, and required equipment.
Financial aid is available to online students in the form of Federal and state aid, as well as private loans.
