Fordham University, formerly known as St. John’s College, was founded by the Roman Catholic Diocese of New York in 1841. It is a privately-run university located within New York City and is fondly referred to as The Jesuit University of New York. Fordham is composed of four undergraduate colleges and six graduate schools and students can take their classes at one of the three campuses in the State. In recent years, Fordham University launched their own Online Program.
Only four programs are offered under Fordham University’s distance learning arm. The two certificate programs are the Graduate Certificate in Faith Formation and the Spanish Certificate in Faith Formation. These are 18-credit certificates that focus on solid theology, spirituality, religious education and scripture. Individuals who are interested to gain knowledge and understanding on the nature and purpose of pastoral care may be interested in taking the online Masters of Arts Degree Program in Pastoral Care. The other online program available at Fordham University is the Master of Arts Degree Program in Religious Education with a Concentration in Youth and Young Adult Ministry. This online program is geared to those who wish to gain a broader understanding of the religious and spiritual needs of today’s youth.
Tuition for Fordham’s Distance Learning Programs will depend on the program of choice. Generally, tuition for graduate courses ranges from roughly $700.00 per credit hour to $1230.00 per credit hour. Financial aid in the form of grants, loans and scholarships are available to eligible students. For more information, contact Fordham’s Financial Aid office.
Admission requirements to Fordham’s Distance Learning Programs may be program-dependent as well. Since the online programs are on the graduate-level, applicants, at the very least, must have completed a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. More details may be requested from Fordham’s Admissions Office.
Fordham University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
