Once known as Robert Morris College, Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, PA is a private, non-profit university named after Robert Morris, a signatory of the Declaration of Independence. Th university used the name Robert Morris College prior to 2002, but changed over to its current name in part to avoid confusion with the Robert Morris College in Illinois with which it shares no affiliation. Both colleges became universities in the same year, with the one in Illinois becoming Robert Morris University Illinois.
