Point Park University is a private, liberal arts university located in downtown, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1960, the school was originally called Point Park College and given its current name only in 2004.
Currently, there are over 3,500 students enrolled at the university pursuing either an Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a wide range of majors. The university is divided into four academic schools; namely, the Conservatory of Performing Arts, the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business, and the School of Communication.
Cost of tuition and fees for academic year 2009-2010 for fulltime undergraduate students taking up 12 to 18 credits at the Conservatory of Performing Arts is US$25,714 per year broken down into full-year tuition of US$25,100, college fee of US$460 and activity fee of US$154. For fulltime, undergraduate students enrolled at School of Arts and Sciences, Business and Communication, the cost of tuition and fees is US$21,334 broken down into tuition of US$20,720, college fee of US$460 and activity fee of US$154. Graduate students pay a tuition and fee cost of US$1,980 plus college fee of US$81. Those who enroll beyond the required number of credits will be charged an additional fee of US$713 per credit at the Conservatory of Performing Arts or US$574 per credit for students enrolled at School of Arts and Sciences, Business, and Communication. A college fee of US$22 is also charged.
To help students pay for their cost of tuition and fees, the university extends financial aid in the form of loans, grants and scholarships. On-campus housing is available to students via five residential halls and several apartment type dwellings.
