Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary was established in 1972 for the primary purpose of providing solid biblical and theological training for individuals seeking to engage in church-related service and mission. These would include vocations such as Christian educators, missionary, pastor and church staff members, among others. It is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
The seminary offers Associate Degree Programs in Divinity Course Requirements and Christian Education; Master’s Degree Programs in Divinity Course Requirements, Missiology and Intercultural Studies, Missiology Course Requirements, Christian Education, Christian Education Course Requirements and Christian Education Women’s Program Course Requirements; as well as the Doctor of Ministry and Doctor of Philosophy Programs. Distance Learning Programs are likewise offered to students who are also required to meet the academic standards similar to that of on-campus students.
Originally known as the School of Prophets, it conducted its early classes at Little Rock, Arkansas. At present, the main campus is located in Cordova, Tennessee at 2095 Appling Road. The campus houses the Gurley Chapel, the Ora Byram Allison Memorial Library, executive offices, faculty offices, administrative offices, lecture halls, classrooms, seminar rooms, bookstore, computer lab, gym, cafeteria and a banquet room. Student housing is located just across the street from the campus. The seminary maintains a branch campus located at 2810 Curry Road Colonie, New York. Referred to as the Northeast Branch Campus, it is situated in the middle of New York’s capital district. Student housing is located 3 miles from the branch campus.
On-campus students are charged $ 130.00 per credit hour while online courses cost $ 170.00 per credit hour. Tuition for the Doctor of Philosophy Program costs $ 2,154.00 per semester while tuition for the Doctor of Ministry Program costs $ 6,322.00. A guaranteed tuition plan which freezes tuition rate for up to six consecutive semesters is available to qualified students.
