Western Governors University is a private, nonprofit, accredited online university with corporate headquarters in Salt Lake City, UT. As a competency-based school, WGU has no academic requirements for admission beyond an admissions exam. WGU receives no state or federal funding, sustaining on tuition and corporate and non-profit grants, and has won numerous awards as an online university. Western Governors University offers an accredited Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education. This 122 credit program prepares students with Associate certification and no certification at all to teach children from birth to 3rd grade. Students will learn about early childhood education theory, practice, foundations, and general education, and the program includes supervised practice teaching in a real classroom environment. Students with Associate certification may waive some credits to complete their degree more quickly.
