Tracing its roots from the Roanoke Bible College established in the late 1940s, Mid-Atlantic Christian University continues to be a bible college in its mission. It is a degree-granting institution which remains ministry focused, committed to producing as many preachers, career missionaries and vocational church leaders possible. It seeks to train evangelists, regardless of each individual’s chosen career path.
Accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as well as the Association for Biblical Higher Education, Mid-Atlantic Christian University’s academic program is centered on the four-year Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees with a major in Bible and Theology. Associate degree programs and various certificate programs are likewise offered which can be completed within 2 years and 1 year, respectively. Academic programs are organized in five departments namely Biblical Studies, Arts and Science, Christian Ministry, Education and Human Services, and Leadership and Business.
Each department has its own specific mission. The Department of Biblical Studies aims to provide students with a general knowledge of the Old and New Testaments as well as biblical doctrines. The Department of Arts and Sciences seeks to instill the basic skills of reading, writing, oral communication and mathematics needed for successful service and leadership in the church. Equipping students with practical skills and resources for effective service in the local church or church-related organizations is the Department of Christian Ministry’s mission. While the Department of Education aims to educate students for career and volunteer Christian service, the Department of Leadership and Business provides programs that prepare its students for servant leadership.
