Mount Marty College is a private, Catholic, co-educational college of the liberal arts providing educational programs in the Benedictine tradition. It was founded by the Sisters of Saint Benedict in 1936 and was named after Martin Marty. Marty was a Benedictine missionary to the Native Americans and became the first Catholic bishop in the Dakota Territory.
The college’s main campus is located at 1105 W. 8th Street, Yankton, South Dakota. It occupies a 80-acre property on the bluffs of the Missouri River. It has two other campuses found in Watertown and Sioux Falls. While the Watertown campus serves as an undergraduate branch campus, the Sioux Falls Campus is home to the college’s Graduate Nursing Program.
Of the total 1,100 students enrolled in all three campuses, about 600 students take their programs at the main campus, while the Watertown Campus enrolls about 300 students. The estimated remaining 100 students are enrolled in graduate programs. The average class size is 25 while the student/faculty ratio is 14:1.
Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, Mount Marty College awards associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees. The offered programs in various fields of study lead to degrees in Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Associate of Arts, Master of Science, Master of Business Administration and Master of Arts. Some of the offered majors and minors include Accounting, Biology, Computer Information Systems, Criminal Justice, Interdisciplinary Studies, Clinical Laboratory Science, Forensic Science and Theatre. Adult learning programs are likewise offered.
Full-time undergraduate students are charged $ 18,102.00 per year for tuition, with overload coasting $ 696.00 per credit hour. Part-time students are charged $ 211.00 per credit hour for 1 to 8 credit load or $ 696.00 per credit hour for a 9 to 11 credit load. The MBA programs costs $ 298.00 per credit hour while the MA in Pastoral Ministries cost $ 500.00 per credit hour. Graduate Studies in Nurse Anesthesia costs about $ 22,400.00 per academic year.
